General Rules

Players in Hawk's Eye Creek RP are playing fictional characters, remember to remain open-minded as people are not always like their characters. Don’t assume a character’s actions and words are applicable to the person behind the character. Don't take things personally and remember to leave what happens in County, in County.

While in County players will remain In Character at all times. If you have an issue this will be reported and handled via a Support Ticket in the Discord which can be submitted in the open-ticket channel.

If for whatever reason you are not comfortable in an RP situation you have the option to walk away. This is not an excuse to ignore naturally occurring, fluid RP interactions that you fear may turn out not in your favor. Exiting an RP scene to avoid in character consequences is considered Fail RP and will be addressed by staff.

We Have A Zero Tolerance for:

  • Hate Speech, Hate Crimes or Slurs

  • Stalking or Other Predatory Behavior

  • Personal Insults OOC

  • Slave Roleplay

  • Suicide / Self-Harm Roleplay

  • Infanticide

Role-play Etiquette
  • Fail RP, characterized by breaking character or engaging in unrealistic actions that disrupt immersion, is strictly prohibited.

  • Always prioritize valuing your character's life in any situation and behave realistically. For instance, if threatened with a gun, running or attempting to draw a weapon would not be a realistic response as your life is paramount.

  • Be prepared to roleplay the consequences of any risks your character takes.

  • Use language and terminology appropriate to the time and setting (1900) - modern-day slang is not permitted.

  • Respect injuries and roleplay them appropriately, as disregarding them can disrupt the experience for medical personnel and others involved.

  • Avoid engaging in frivolous or reckless behavior, such as randomly harming others for amusement or performing dangerous stunts, as it demonstrates a failure to value life.

  • Refrain from inserting yourself into ongoing scenes or situations without invitation.

  • Prioritize roleplay over gunplay - only engage in combat with other players if it serves a story-driven purpose.

Character Creation
  • Your character's name must be realistic.

  • Your character's name cannot be that of a celebrity or a famous figure. This includes variations/nicknames of celebrities/famous figures.

  • Any controversial, offensive, vulgar or racist characters will not be tolerated.

  • All parts of your body must be visible at all times meaning no invisible hands or legs.

  • Alternative characters need to be completely separate from each other. This includes exchanging information or items.

  • VoiceMod or any other voice configuration software is allowed as long as it is realistic and audible

ERP / Nudity
  • ERP is not allowed in public areas. Period. Private instances and homes/camps are the only authorized locations for ERP.

  • Nudity is allowed inside Private Instances, Personal Homes/Camp Tents, Hot Springs at Cotorra Springs, and the Beaches at Guarma.

  • Violating the ERP/Nudity rules will result in a ban.

Fail RP

Fail RP is the act of breaking character or doing things that could break the immersion of others. It is strictly prohibited. Examples:

  • Police/Doctor/Player Baiting

  • Failing to roleplay out injuries

  • Combat logging

  • Robbing/Killing players without prior interaction

  • Frequently using excessive force for low-tier crime

Value Your Life

Players should always value their life in every situation, and behave realistically. If your character takes a risk, you should be ready to roleplay the consequences of that risk if it fails.

Examples:

  • Not realistically fearing for your character's life when you are threatened with weapons or severe physical harm.

  • Willingly putting yourself in a dangerous situation

  • Antagonizing Gangs/Police or armed individuals in an active RP scene.

  • Not leaving a dangerous scene after being directed by police.

Metagaming
  • Players are prohibited from metagaming, defined as using information in-game that their character should not possess knowledge of.

  • Out-of-character (OOC) information may not be utilized or revealed in-character (IC) until the character learns of it naturally within the game.

Power Gaming

Power gaming, characterized by actions that provide an unfair or unrealistic advantage during roleplay, is strictly prohibited. This includes:

  • Attempting to control a narrative beyond one's character by forcing outcomes in favor of oneself.

  • Abuse of game mechanics to gain roleplay advantages constitutes power gaming.

  • Inter-character item or currency exchanges are not permitted, as they are considered power-gaming.

  • Deliberately incapacitating a character to erase recent events from their memory is also deemed power-gaming and is strictly forbidden.

  • Utilizing macros and exploits to bypass game mechanics or gain an advantage over normal gameplay

Random Deathmatch (RDM)
  • Random Deathmatching (RDM), defined as intentionally harming someone without prior meaningful roleplay, is strictly forbidden.

  • Assault and murder are serious offenses within the game and should never be trivialized, regardless of a character's disposition.

  • Before engaging in any hostile action against another character, there must be a clear reason or motive established, and substantial interaction leading up to the altercation.

  • Saying just hello is insufficient to justify an attack on another player

Criminal RP

Game Rules for Robbery and Interaction:

  • When robbing an individual, you may only steal two weapons.

  • Complete inventory wipes of players are not permitted.

  • During a robbery, you can steal all of the player's money and the entirety of up to three items from their pockets.

  • A waiting period of one hour per group or gang is required before attempting another bank robbery.

  • Players cannot coerce others into withdrawing items from personal inventories such as banks or houses.

  • Robbing someone and subsequently incapacitating them is prohibited; likewise, incapacitating someone and then robbing them is prohibited.

  • Repeatedly targeting the same player(s) is not allowed and will be treated as harassment.

  • Initiating a crime 30 minutes before or after a server restart is prohibited.

  • Use of Fast Travel is strictly prohibited for 30 minutes after committing a crime.

    • The time begins at the completion of the illegal act.

    • Example: When robbing a bank the 30 minute time restriction begins once you have left the bank with the items and money you intend to steal

  • Leaving evidence for crimes without witnesses is encouraged to enhance roleplay, using commands or visuals.

  • Attacking locals without a clear motive is considered failure to roleplay.

  • Torturing someone without out-of-character consent is prohibited. (Covered in more detail in another section)

  • Attempting to force another player to permanently kill (perma) their character is prohibited.

  • Dumping a character's body in unreachable locations like bottomless pits or bodies of water is prohibited.

  • Taunting or provoking a player after incapacitating them is prohibited.

  • Ambushing medical or law enforcement personnel and moving bodies during emergencies is considered power-gaming and is prohibited.

  • Attempting to rob players engaged in menus (e.g., banks, telegrams, clothing stores) is prohibited.

  • Attempting to or successfully robbing an obviously away-from-keyboard (AFK) player is prohibited.

Posse Regulations
  • The maximum size for a posse is 5 individuals. A posse refers to a group assembled to undertake a hostile action, whether they be criminals, lawmen, or civilians.

  • In response to a posse, opposing groups may match the size of the first group, making it an even 5v5.

  • Individuals who were already present at a location and suddenly find themselves defending against a posse are not bound by the 5-person limit. Each individual may make their own decision regarding their involvement.

  • If a posse enters a town and creates a hostile environment, citizens are not restricted to a limit of 5 individuals in their response. Any citizen inclined to do so may defend themselves.

Combat Logging
  • Exiting the game during an ongoing scenario, such as medical or law roleplay, is strictly prohibited.

  • After committing a crime, players must remain logged in for 15 minutes before logging off.

  • In the event of a game crash, players must promptly inform other involved players and/or staff via Discord.

Hogtie Protocol
  • Breaking out of hogties is only permissible if the captor has left the player unattended for a minimum of 5 minutes.

  • Players are advised to exercise common sense when hogtied. If their assailant loosens their binds you may break free after your assailant is no longer in view.

Torture and Permanent Damage Protocol
  • Consent must be obtained before engaging in any form of torture against another player's character. This can be done via direct messages (DMs) or through in-game messages at the scene by using /do attempts to…

  • Directly incapacitating the player's character after torture is prohibited, as it nullifies the experience and disrupts the potential for further roleplay.

  • Inflicting permanent damage upon a character also requires prior consent from the player.

Character Recovery / Respawn
  • When your character is "Seriously Injured" (downed), you have two options: wait for a doctor if they are on duty or respawn.

  • If a doctor takes the call to come to your aide and doesn't arrive before the respawn timer ends, wait at least an additional 5 minutes. Remember, doctors may need time to reach you, so patience is appreciated.

  • If you choose to respawn without a doctor's assistance, you'll lose the last 15 minutes of your character's memory, but your inventory remains intact.

  • Seeking medical attention from a doctor after respawning is still advised - RP it out!

  • Loss of memory prohibits immediate retaliation. You must rely on witnesses or clues to recall events before taking action.

  • While downed, characters are considered "unconscious" and should not be aware of their surroundings. Realistic roleplaying of resulting injuries is expected.

Perma Rules

In most cases, only a character's player can decide to perma (kill off) their character. There are two exceptions:

  • Presenting injuries to Doctors that are clearly beyond the medical capabilities for the time period. Doctors will, after attempting in good faith to inform the player OOC that the injuries are too severe to treat, contact Staff and a decision will be made whether the character will survive. If Staff and the on-scene Doctors agree the Character would not survive, the character will be required to perma.

  • Anyone who is convicted of Murder (causing the perma-death of another player) or accrues a total prison sentence of 1000 days or greater can be sentenced to a Public Hanging after a petition by the Sheriff's Office to the Government. If the petition is approved, the player, if caught by law enforcement, will be brought to the gallows and hanged. This will result in the perma-death of the character.

Once a character is declared deceased, the character must be deleted immediately after the end of the scene. A Doctor will post their Obituary accordingly.

*Note: A player may choose a life sentence in Sisika in lieu of perma-death when their conviction time is 1000 days or greater. In this case, the character cannot leave Sisika Prison
